Bucket challenge

faith religious self improvement spiritual Dec 21, 2021

Consider this empty bucket challenge. I believe in it, and I am confident that this bucket challenge will work in every case. Find a small empty bucket and label it as “blessings bucket.” Place the bucket on the counter of the kitchen and leave it there for 30 days.

Explain to your family, “we are going to increase our faithfulness for thirty days and prove the Lord. We are going to strive to be exact in our obedience. We are going to keep the Sabbath Day Holy, we are going to read scriptures every day faithfully. We are going to pray more earnestly. We are going to build some strong new family traditions. We are going to love one another.

We are going to put away our social media. We are going to turn off the computers and televisions, only using them for necessary work and assignments. We are going to serve people in our ward every week. We are going to let the Lord know we love him through our obedience. We know if we do this the Lord will bless us individually and as a family.”

Each day have each family member record at least one blessing they have felt on a piece of paper and throw it in the bucket. At the end of thirty days, when you look into that bucket it will be filled. You will see the bucket filling with physical papers, but more importantly it will be spiritually filling your family. You will quickly realize it is not the physical papers that matter, but the spiritual feelings your family is experiencing.

It is really what we feel that makes the bucket full. It will be filled with love, miracles, experiences, family closeness, peace, joy, contentment, changed hearts, and a desire to keep filling it. You will look in the bucket and it will appear much different than it was 30 days earlier. Try the bucket challenge in your family and see if it doesn’t change your life. A loving God has so many forgotten blessings that He wants us to claim.
