Conversion

spiritual Oct 06, 2020

Elder Marion G. Romney defined conversion in this manner: “Converted means to turn from one belief or course of action to another. Conversion is a spiritual and moral change. Converted implies not merely a mental acceptance of Jesus and his teachings but also a motivating faith in him and his gospel. A faith which works a transformation, an actual change in one's understanding of life meaning and in his allegiance to God in interest, in thought, and in conduct” (2002 April General Conference, Full Conversion Brings Happiness Richard G. Scott)

I have learned that true conversion changes desire through divine and miraculous Godly intervention. Even the wicked leader of the Gadianton robbers, filled with darkness, recognized the divine power of the converted and faithful Nephites when he said to Lachoneus: “…behold, I write this epistle unto you, and do give unto you exceedingly great praise because of your firmness, and also the firmness of your people, in maintaining that which ye suppose to be your right and liberty; yea, ye do stand well, as if ye were supported by the hand of a god, in the defence of your liberty, and your property, and your country, or that which ye do call so” (3 Nephi 3:2).
