One of the great themes of the Book of Mormon is the power of deliverance that is offered through Jesus Christ our Savior. There are numerous verses and stories where we see the hand of God deliver His people time and time again. The deliverance comes in many forms and fashions. There is deliverance from trials, from adversity, from death, from sin, from sorrow, and a host of other difficulties.

I love Alma’s words to his son Shiblon, “And now my son, Shiblon, I would that ye should remember, that as much as ye shall put your trust in God even so much ye shall be delivered out of your trials, and your troubles, and your afflictions, and ye shall be lifted up at the last day (Alma 38:5). I don’t believe there is a promise in all scripture that is more powerful than those precious words. May we all be lifted up at the last day as we allow God to deliver us from our weaknesses and become more like Him.
