Founded upon a rock
Jan 11, 2022
We must never forget to make Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ our foundation. Jacob called the Savior a “safe foundation” (Jacob 4:15). The Savior spoke of “a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock” (Luke 6:48). There is powering in digging deep, and laying a powerful foundation of righteousness based upon Jesus Christ’s principles.
A few years ago, our family had a memorable visit to a nursing home on a Sunday afternoon. On this particular day there was a wonderful woman whom we visited with. She had lost much of her memory, but I will never forget her pleading words as we left. She looked earnestly into my eyes and repeated two or three times, “please come back.”
I believe a loving Father is constantly echoing those precious words to those who have forgotten Him, those who are currently a little distracted, or those who have veered off the straight and narrow path. For all of us who are not as close to God as we should be, may we remember these precious words—“please come back.”
