Gently bestowed impression
Sep 14, 2021
A few years ago, I was given a gently bestowed idea and impression. There was a young girl in our ward who had graduated from high school and had applied to a church college and got accepted. When it came time to go, she did not have the necessary funding. It was during the recession, and the family could not make the schooling work.
The Lord showed me something that could happen. This family was really less active, but the daughter was partially active in the Church. In many ways, she was carrying the family spiritually. The daughter could have easily followed the pattern of her parents into complete inactivity.
The Lord shared with me this thought: If you can help her get into a Church-sponsored school, she will be married in the temple. It truly was a gently bestowed impression. The earth did not shake, and a cloud did not open up. It was simply just an idea from a loving Heavenly Father.
My wife and I discussed the matter and through some help with the school, we made an anonymous donation to cover her tuition. We sent an anonymous note to her, making her aware of this, and, sure enough, she went off to school. She had a wonderful experience and had the opportunity to be at the Church school for a time.
Without sharing every detail, it was about two years later that she was married in the Gilbert Arizona Temple to a wonderful young man. The Lord, through a tender impression, had showed me exactly what would happen if we gave this young girl a little bit of help. It was a great evidence from a small impression.
These gently bestowed impressions and ideas may appear to be small and simple, but they are profound, and they represent great evidences. These gently bestowed impressions can be life-changing if we allow them to be and if we will act.
