Never thirst
Jul 27, 2021
My friend, Nathan LaDuke, said it this way when we were standing beneath one of the waterfalls at Niagara Falls and observing its powerful effects. He said, “The closer you get to it, the more powerful it is.” I have learned that Nathan’s words are absolutely true when it comes to God. The closer we get to God, the more power He has in our lives and the more we feel and recognize His power.
Like the woman learned at Jacob’s Well in the New Testament, we may try other waters in life, but when we try the living water, we will never need anything else. Christ said to the woman: “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14).
Her response is faith-filled and priceless: “Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw” (John 4:15). She believed the Savior dispensed the only water that could make her never thirst again. The waters that flow from Christ change us, and, like a riparian zone, they cause us to grow and to become more spiritually filled and beautiful.
