I had a conversation recently with a friend who is a priest quorum advisor. This good brother has a young man in his quorum who he is trying to ignite with a little desire to spark an increase in testimony so he will have a desire to serve a mission. This faithful brother has been fasting every Wednesday for over a year for this young man.

The ignitor of desire, the fast, has not changed the heart of the young man yet, but I can tell you it has changed the heart of the leader. When I heard this brother speak and weep about this young man, I knew that his heart was filled with love for this priest and that his desires had driven him to deep sacrifices in his behalf. There is immense power in desire.
