Power to do great things

During one family night when my son Tyler was thirteen-years-old, my family and I were discussing his upcoming transition to high school. Eight-year-old Blake said to his six-year-old brother McKay, “Yeah, in high school and stuff they try to get you to take drugs.”
Blake then continued, “That will be hard for you, but it won’t be for me because I am Captain Moroni.” It was a powerful statement. McKay sat there reflecting after listening to his brother and responded, “It won’t be hard for me either because I am like Nephi—Courageous.” Here were two young men learning very early in their lives that they would have the power, like ancient prophets, to do great things in the strength of the Lord.
A very insightful verbal exchange occurs between Lamoni and Ammon when Ammon tells Lamoni he needs to go to Middoni to help free his brothers from prison. Lamoni has seen Ammon filled with the Spirit, he has heard him testify, he has just had a miraculous conversion experience, and he has observed the exceeding faith and spirit of Ammon.
He then testifies to Ammon of a principle that all of us would be blessed to understand when he says, “I know, in the strength of the Lord thou canst do all things” (Alma 20:4). He didn’t just say it, he had seen it.
