Principle of power

My son Talmage understood a principle as a youngster that many people never understand in an entire lifetime. He shouted this principle out as he was learning to ride a bicycle as a four-year-old. He was very excited as he was balancing and riding for the first time on his own. There were a few falls and a few hiccups, but he was finally achieving his goal of riding without training wheels.

He was enjoying his new talent as I was running behind him making sure he didn’t fall. When he knew he was riding on his own and felt confident he said, “Dad, Heavenly Father wants me to ride a two-wheeler!” Talmage—in his own childlike way— was reminding me that we can do anything God wants us to do. Talmage was doing something that seemed impossible to him only a few minutes earlier. I love his sentiments as I have learned that Heavenly Father yearns for us to discover and do righteous, good, and wholesome things.

One of the greatest insights and promises in all scripture was penned by Moroni as he taught us about faith. He said, “And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them” (Ether 12:27).

Jeremiah reminded us in eight powerful words, that nothing can stop us if we exercise faith in God. He said, “Is there anything too hard for the Lord?” (Jeremiah 32:21). The question for us is, do we really believe those eight words of Jeremiah? I have observed many who have believed those words.
