Quick and Constant

Captain Moroni’s strength of character and attributes were revealed in this simple phrase: He was “a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving” (Alma 48:12). What if the same could be written of us? Hearts that are swollen with thanksgiving are filled throughout with not only grain after grain of gratitude but are also filled with numerous other additional Christlike attributes.
“Great men have always recognized the greatness of God and their dependence upon Him, and they have with regularity rendered to Him gratitude and thanksgiving” (Marion G. Romney, “Gratitude and Thanksgiving,” October 1982 General Conference). I would say that the “regularity” President Romney referred to means: consistently, constantly, predictably, steadily, and uniformly.
Another word in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants adds some extra power to “regularity;” the word is “quick.” What if we were quick to go to our knees? Quick to pray? Quick to give thanks, to express gratefulness, to recognize that every blessing comes from a loving Father. May we be quick and constant when it comes to expressing gratitude to God.
