Sunday Motivation
Nov 10, 2019
There is a phrase I like to use that is a weekly test of our fortitude to change, and it is, “What happens on Monday?!” What happens on Monday is an assessment of the things we learned on Sunday. The question really becomes, “did what we learned on the Sabbath translate to any action on Monday? Did the promptings of Sabbath day observance and our weekly sacred sacrament covenant cause our hearts to change at all?” Remember, “And behold, ye do know of yourselves, for ye have witnessed it, that as many of them as are brought to the knowledge of the truth…which leadeth them to faith on the Lord, and unto repentance, which faith and repentance bringeth a change of heart unto them” (Helaman 15:7). If the promptings from Sunday motivated us to action then--through faith and repentance--our character is changing, and we are being refined into something better than before.
If Monday comes and we are the same person we were the last Monday, then the Spirit is having little impact upon our character. We are then “ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7).
